Local Planning Policy 2 - Ancillary Accommodation (2025) |
| Applicant |
Shire of Toodyay |
| What is changing? |
- The revised policy replaces prescriptive limits the floor space size, number of bedrooms, and the separation distance from the main Dwelling.
- The new approach will use a proportional methodology to assess new Ancillary Dwellings and allow developers to site Ancillary Dwellings in accordance with Bushfire regulations, allowing greater flexibility in siting, use and the number of Ancillary Dwellings on larger rural lots.
- This policy aims to be responsive to the needs of an aging population who wish to remain within the Shire.
|
| Motivation |
The policy is being updated to align with current State legislation and Local Planning Scheme No.5, and to better respond to contemporary housing needs in the Shire. It will provide greater flexibility for Ancillary Dwellings across residential and rural areas. |
