Consolidated Local Laws

Section 5.96A(1)(b) requires that an up to date consolidated version of any local law that is in force be published on the website.

Council Members Attendance

For the purposes of section 5.53(2)(g) and (i) of the Local Government Act 1995 the number of Council and committee meetings
attended by each Council member during the financial year must be provided as prescribed information to be published within the Shire's Annual Report.  This information is also published separately at the link below.

Council Members Fees and Allowances

s 5.96A of the Local Government Act 1995 requires that an up‑to‑date list of fees and charges imposed under section 6.16 publish the following information on the local government’s official website

r 29C(f) of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 requires that the type, and the amount or value, of any fees, expenses or allowances paid to each council member during a financial year be published on the official website.

Council Members Mandatory Training Register

s.5.126 of the Local Government Act 1995 requires that each council member must complete training in accordance with regulations

r.35 of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 states that the course of training is the course titled Council Member Essentials that consists of the following modules —

  •  Understanding Local Government;
  •  Serving on Council;
  •  Meeting Procedures;
  •  Conflicts of Interest;
  •  Understanding Financial Reports and Budgets

Council Members Returns Register

r.29C(2)(d) of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 requires the name of each council member who lodged a primary return or annual return for a financial year be published on the official website

Council Members Training Register

s.5.126 of the Local Government Act 1995 requires that each council member must complete training in accordance with regulations

Cultural and Linguistic diversity

For the purposes of section 5.53(2)(g) and (i) of the Local Government Act 1995, the age, gender, linguistic background and country of birth of Council members including whether any Council members identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is to be published as part of the Shire's Annual Report.

s.5.18 (Register of Delegations for Committees) and s.5.46 (Register of, and records relevant to, delegations to CEO and employees of the Local Government Act 1995 requires that the CEO is to keep a register of the delegations made.

An Electoral Gift means a gift about which the relevant person was or is required by regulations under section 4.59(a) to provide information in relation to an election.

s.5.89(A) of the Local Government Act 1995 requires that the CEO is to keep a gifts register.

Minor Breach Complaints Register

Minor breaches of the Local Government Act 1995 (the Act) are dealt with by the Local Government Standards Panel (the Panel). Complaints against a Council member must be lodged through the complaints officer at the relevant local government. Types of minor breaches include:

Local Government (Model Code of Conduct) Regulations 2021 Schedule 1

  • Clause 17 – Misuse of local government resources
  • Clause 18 – Securing personal advantage or disadvantaging others
  • Clause 19 – Prohibition against involvement in administration
  • Clause 20 – Relationship with local government employees
  • Clause 21 – Disclosure of information
  • Clause 22 – Disclosure of interests
  • Clause 23 – Compliance with plan requirement

Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996

  • Regulation 34D – Contravention of local law as to conduct
