Mining & Resource Extraction
The Shire of Toodyay has adopted Local Planning Policy 7 – Mining and Resource Extraction to guide how mining, quarrying and extractive industry proposals are considered and managed within the district.
The policy provides a consistent framework for the assessment of development applications and helps ensure operations are appropriately located, managed, and rehabilitated while minimising impacts on surrounding land uses, infrastructure, and the environment.
All mining and resource extraction proposals require development approval from the Shire.
Applications are assessed against the Local Planning Scheme, relevant State Planning Policies, and Local Planning Policy Mining & Resource Extraction. Proposals are generally treated as complex applications and will typically be advertised for public comment, including consultation with nearby landowners.
