The Shire of Toodyay is seeking applications from skilled and experienced rangers to join the Planning and Development team. The role is responsible for the practical application, and where necessary enforcement of a range of legislation and local laws for the Shire. The position also has a focus on public relations and education with the emphasis being on positive reinforcement and prevention as much as is possible.
The Shire offers attractive working conditions and a friendly work environment. The salary component for this role is $67,000 plus superannuation. A mobile phone with reasonable private use and an appropriately badged vehicle with commuter use as well as a uniform allowance are provided. Other benefits include professional development opportunities, additional superannuation contribution policy and income protection.
Responsibilities include investigating and resolving requests from the public regarding animals, nuisances, regulated parking, local laws and other community response related matters in a professional manner consistent with organisational standards and with regard to powers of entry, conflict resolution and evidence gathering. The successful applicant will perform compliance patrols within the region, prepare reports and briefs, present evidence in a court of law regarding investigations, and provide excellent customer service, advice, direction and solutions to the community.
To be selelcted for an interview, candidates will have demonstrated industry skills and experience in the application of local laws compliance activities along with experience in undertaking manual tasks in a safety-conscious manner. Excellent numeracy, written and verbal communication skills sufficient to complete paperwork, read safety instructions and plans, and to effectively communicate with the public and team members are essential, along with sound computer skills.
Due to the nature of the role; applicants must be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment with an independent professional nominated by the Shire as part of the recruitment process, as well as a National Police History Check. This role requires participation in the Shire's "After Hours On-Call" service.
