What is changing?
  • Consolidation of multiple approval processes into a single Local Planning Policy (LPP7) for extractive industries.

  • Removal of the Extractive Industries Local Law and transition to differential rating and annual fees for road maintenance cost recovery.

  • Elimination of road maintenance fees as development approval conditions, in line with legal advice.

  • Cessation of rehabilitation bonds for mining sites, shifting responsibility to landowners and operators.

  • A more streamlined approval process, requiring strict adherence to approved plans and reports.

Motivation  To simplify and modernise the approval and regulation of mining and extractive industries in the Shire of Toodyay, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.
