Motorists advised to take caution as temporary speed limits are implemented on Toodyay Bindi Bindi Road.
The Shire of Toodyay advises residents and visitors that a temporary reduced speed limit has been implemented on a 2.3 km stretch of Toodyay Bindi Bindi Road, extending from the Old Newcastle Public Cemetery.
The reduced speed limit will remain in place for approximately one month following recent road sealing works. During this period, motorists may encounter loose stones as the new road surface settles.
As part of the sealing aftercare process, the road has been swept, and appropriate warning signage has been installed. Drivers are encouraged to observe the temporary speed limit and take extra care when travelling through the area. Reducing speed helps minimise loose stones, protects the new road surface, and reduces the risk of vehicle damage.
Temporary speed restrictions and loose stone warning signs are a standard part of road resealing projects across local governments throughout Western Australia. These measures are designed to give the new seal time to bed in, helping to achieve a longer-lasting road surface while maintaining the safety of road users.
The Shire's works team will continue to closely monitor the performance of the new seal over the coming weeks. If the surface settles as expected, any remaining sealing work will be completed when weather conditions are more suitable. Should the road surface continue to strip, remedial works will be undertaken as soon as practicable.
The safety of residents, visitors and road users will continue to guide the Shire's approach to road maintenance and improvement works.
The community's patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as the new road surface settles.
