The Shire of Toodyay is actively managing a breakdown in relationships among members of the Coondle-Nunile Bush Fire Brigade (BFB), which has impacted the Brigade committee’s ability to function effectively. To ensure continuity and support for the Brigade, the Shire has appointed Deputy Chief Bush Fire Control Officer and former Brigade Captain, Mr Nick Griggs, to administer the Brigade on a short-term basis. This decision has been made with consideration for procedural fairness, allowing all affected members the opportunity to respond to the Shire’s concerns. The process has been conducted in accordance with the Shire’s grievance policy, which safeguards confidentiality and protects the rights of individuals to appeal or question decisions. The Shire of Toodyay remains committed to providing a safe and respectful workplace for all employees and volunteers.Importantly, the Coondle-Nunile BFB remains fully operational, with experienced and dedicated volunteers continuing to serve the community.Members of the public who are interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the Shire on 9574 6300 or email cesm@toodyay.wa.gov.au.
