The Shire of Toodyay is inviting public feedback on the proposed update to Local Planning Policy No.7 (LPP7), previously titled "Extractive Industries – Road Contributions." The revised policy, now named "Mining & Resource Extraction," aims to streamline the approval process, improve regulatory efficiency, and ensure a sustainable approach to managing mining activities within the Shire. This update reflects changes in best practices, legal considerations, and industry feedback while ensuring alignment with Council objectives and state legislation. Key modifications include the removal of road maintenance fees in favor of a differential rating system, a shift toward a single approval framework, and clearer compliance mechanisms. The policy is open for public comment for a minimum of 21 days. Stakeholders, including residents, industry representatives, and community groups, are encouraged to review the proposed changes and provide their input before the policy is finalised.
