Newcastle Park Footbridge - Latest Update

We’d like to share the latest update on the Newcastle Park Footbridge:

  • After last year’s vandalism damage was repaired, the Shire arranged for a certified structural bridge engineer to carry out a Level 1 Inspection of the whole footbridge.
  • For public safety, the engineer has advised that the bridge should remain closed pending the results of a full structural engineering report.
  • This inspection was undertaken last week, and we’re now awaiting the detailed report so we can determine the safest way forward and what works are needed to reopen the bridge.

While it seems that progress is frustratingly slow, please know we’re doing everything we can to progress this as quickly as possible while following the required processes.
