This year’s theme for the National Trust’s Australian Heritage Festival (18 April – 19 May) is “Our Heritage for the Future”.

The festival event calendar will be available from 18 March via the Trust’s webpage Click on the tab “Festival Near Me” to see what is happening in Western Australia.

In Toodyay, the Shire is partnering with the Toodyay Historical Society to host a free family history preservation afternoon on Saturday 16 May between midday and 3pm. Titled “Families – Linking our past, present and future”, it will be an informal opportunity to share information, hints and practical strategies for uncovering and preserving family histories.

Browse our information stations covering topics such as where family historical records are held, gathering oral histories, inheritance planning, and preservation and conservation strategies for digital media, photos and documents.

Chat with community members who are actively involved in maintaining Toodyay family histories and hear first-hand about their own experiences.

Enjoy light refreshments and the opportunity to visit our brand-new exhibition in the Newcastle Gaol opposite, inspired by the theme of this year’s National Trust Heritage Festival. The launch of the new exhibition, also titled “Families – Linking our past, present and future” will occur during the afternoon.
