Council adopts 2026/27 Annual Budget and supports local community initiatives
At its Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday, 6 August 2026, the Shire of Toodyay Council considered and determined a range of matters relating to local infrastructure, community funding, planning and governance.
A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Shire’s 2026/27 Annual Budget. The budget provides for a 5 per cent overall rates revenue increase and a minimum rate of $1,570. It also includes a capital works program supporting road construction, Batty Pass land development, standpipe upgrades and the delivery of an accessible public toilet at Newcastle Park.
Council approved $24,200 through the 2026/27 Community Funding Program. Funding will support a range of local organisations and initiatives, including Arts Toodyay, Noongar Kaartdijin Aboriginal Corporation, Toodyay Naturalists Club and Toodyay Race Club. An allocation was also approved for CEO-managed ad hoc community funding.
Council also approved a retrospective development application for works undertaken at The Rec, 125 Stirling Terrace. The approved works include pergolas, a screen wall and heritage-style doors.
Other decisions included:
- approval of rates concessions for several properties;
- adoption of the Activities in Thoroughfares and Public Places and Trading Local Law 2026, replacing the former 2001 local law; and
- appointment of Cr Dival and Cr Mills as the Shire’s voting delegates for the 2026 WALGA Annual General Meeting.
