Key outcomes from Council’s meeting held on 1 October 2026

At its Ordinary Council Meeting on 1 October 2026, the Shire of Toodyay Council considered a range of planning, governance and community matters.

Council approved a revised Stage 1 subdivision design for the proposed residential development at 35 Burt Parkway, Nunile. The development includes single residential lots, a grouped housing lot and a future development area. The revised design will now be submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission for consideration, with further Council workshops to be held before tender specifications and future stages are progressed.

Council resolved to make the Local Government Property Local Law 2026 and Fencing Local Law 2026 following public consultation. Both local laws will now progress through the remaining statutory and gazettal processes before coming into effect.

Council also agreed to re-advertise a revised draft Health Local Law 2027. The local law is intended to support the management of public and environmental health matters across the district, and the advertising process will provide the community with a further opportunity to review the draft and submit feedback.

Other outcomes included approval of a five-year lease for Toodyay Golf Club Inc. to continue managing the golf course, clubhouse and associated facilities. Council also appointed Nick Griggs as Chief Bush Fire Control Officer, with Peter Brennan and Craig Stewart appointed as Deputy Chief Bush Fire Control Officers, alongside a number of additional Bush Fire Control Officers.

Council resolved to undertake further analysis and seek community feedback before determining its position on proposed State Government changes to the Dadour Provisions – more details will be provide at a later date.
