Shire adopts budget focused on infrastructure, essential services and community priorities.
The Shire of Toodyay has formally adopted its 2026/2027 Budget at the Ordinary Council Meeting held yesterday on 6 August 2026, outlining a strong program of investment in infrastructure, community facilities and essential services across the Shire.
The adopted budget provides for $12.34 million in operational revenue and $8.81 million in capital expenditure, with more than $5.01 million of capital works to be funded through external grant funding. This investment reflects the Shire's commitment to maintaining and improving community assets while continuing to secure external funding to deliver projects that benefit residents.
A significant focus of the 2026/2027 Budget is the delivery of capital works throughout the Shire. The largest investment is $3.77 million for road construction and improvements on various roads across the district, in addition to funding secured through the Regional Roads for Safety Program. Key road projects include:
- Bindoon Dewars Pool Road
- Toodyay Bindi-Bindi Road (carried forward from the previous financial year)
- Fernie Road
- Salt Valley Road
The budget also includes funding for a range of community infrastructure projects, including:
- $2.15 million for the Batty Pass Land Development.
- $108,753 for the replacement of two water tanks at the Julimar Fire Station.
- $110,000 for a new accessible public toilet at Newcastle Park.
- $160,000 for standpipe upgrades and refurbishments.
- $15,000 for electrical upgrades at the Toodyay Club.
It also includes a 5 per cent increase in total rate revenue for the 2026/27 financial year. The minimum payment for the 2026/2027 financial year is $1,570.
The 2026/2027 Budget balances responsible financial management with continued investment in the infrastructure, facilities and services that support the Toodyay community. By leveraging more than $5 million in grant funding, the Shire is able to deliver significant projects while reducing the cost burden on ratepayers and continuing to invest in the future of the district.
The Shire looks forward to delivering these projects over the coming financial year and continuing to build a safe, connected and vibrant community for residents, businesses and visitors.
