Dumbarton Bridge Temporary Closure for Essential Inspection Works

Residents and road users are advised that Main Roads WA will be undertaking essential inspection works on Dumbarton Bridge, resulting in a temporary closure of the bridge on Thursday 18 June and Friday 19 June 2026.

The inspections form part of Main Roads WA's ongoing asset management and maintenance program, helping to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the bridge for all users.

What You Need to Know

The bridge will be closed to general traffic during the inspection period. Traffic management measures and signed detours will be in place to guide motorists safely around the closure area.

Detours will be available via:

  • Irishtown Road
  • Goomaling–Toodyay Road
  • Nairn Drive (additional detour route)

Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and plan their journeys accordingly.

School Bus Services Unaffected

Main Roads WA has confirmed that school bus services will continue to operate as normal during the closure period. The bridge will remain accessible for school buses, ensuring there is no disruption to student transport services on either day.

This arrangement has been made to minimise impacts on local families and students while the inspection works are carried out.

Important Information for the Community

While the closure may cause some inconvenience for road users, these inspections are an important part of maintaining critical transport infrastructure and ensuring the ongoing safety of the bridge for the community.

Please note that these works are being managed entirely by Main Roads WA. The Shire of Toodyay is not involved in the planning or delivery of the inspection works but is sharing this information to help keep residents informed.
