Press Release - Closing down Facilities

On 23 March 2020, the Premier Hon Mark McGowan (BA LLB MLA), Minister for Public Sector Management; State Development, Jobs and Trade; Federal State Relations published a press release regarding Important new COVID-19 measures coming into effect.

What this means for the Shire of Toodyay district is that from today (at noon) 23 March 2020, the Shire will close its indoor sporting venues, libraries and museum for the next six-month period.  

The Prime Minister outlined that the following facilities will need to close:

  • Pubs, bars and registered and licenced clubs.
  • Gyms and indoor sporting venues.
  • Cinemas, entertainment venues, and casinos.
  • Cultural institutions including libraries, museums, art galleries.
  • Funerals in enclosed spaces. Excludes very small groups and where the 1 person per 4 square metre of floor space rule applies.
  • Large religious gatherings and places of worship.
  • Restaurants and cafes will be restricted to takeaway and home delivery.
