Preparing for Cyclone Narelle - Community Update

The Shire of Toodyay is currently monitoring Tropical Cyclone Narelle as it tracks south-southeast toward the South West Land Division. While the system's exact path remains uncertain, it is forecast to bring heavy rain and damaging winds to the region, including the Wheatbelt, starting from late Friday, 27 March 2026, through the weekend.

What the Shire is doing:

The Shire's management team are in close consultation with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and are acting on their advice:
• 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲: Local emergency crews are ready to respond to life threatening emergencies and storm damage such as fallen trees or roof damage.
• 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Crews have been assessing drainage systems and clearing potential blockages to mitigate flash flooding risks from expected heavy rainfall.
• 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The Shire recommends residents and visitors stay informed of regular updates via the Emergency WA app or website.
