The Shire of Toodyay has received a Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) RoadWise Road Safety Award for the Julimar Road Realignment Project.
This project applied safe system treatments to a road that posed a considerable crash risk - particularly to people riding motorcycles - including realignment of the road, the installation of edge-lines and guideposts, and the improvement of roadside batter gradient.
The award was presented to Shire representatives during the Awards and Honours program of the 2022 WALGA Convention, held from October 2-4 at Crown Perth and attended by over 500 local government delegates from across the state.
The Road Safety Award for the Julimar project is presented to Shire Manager of Infrastructure and
Assets Jan Augustin (L) and Shire President Cr Rosemary Madacsi (R), by WALGA State President
Karen Chappel (centre).

The Road Safety Awards are a joint initiative between WALGA’s RoadWise and the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (Western Australia Division), acknowledging achievements by local governments in the area of road safety and recognising engineering innovation that contributes to safe system implementation.

Congratulations to all involved in the Julimar project, and to everybody else making Toodyay a safer place to drive.
