The Shire wishes to advise residents and road users that current bridge works in the Shire of Chittering – and the accompanying temporary closure of/detour around a section of Chittering Road – are resulting in an increase to traffic traveling up Keating Road to Julimar Road in the Shire of Toodyay.
The Shire of Chittering is undertaking bridge reconstruction works south of Chittering Road’s Julimar Road intersection, with completion anticipated in April. These works have required the closure of a section of Chittering Road, north and south of the two bridges undergoing reconstruction; and a detour to Julimar Road via Keating Road in the Shire of Toodyay.
Traffic has increased on Keating Road with travel between Chittering and Toodyay during this time, and due to the detour providing the easiest access to the Chittering Tourist Drive while the regular route is disrupted.
Traffic management and detour signage is in place in the area – if you are traveling to or from Chittering, please observe all management measures and signage on site and drive to conditions.
