What types of restrictions are put in place and what permits are needed for burning to take place throughout the year.
To assist in preventing fires a Harvest, Vehicle Movement & Hot Works Ban or a Total Fire Ban may be declared.
Toodyay has 5 Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades which are administered by the Shire with Support from DFES and with assistance from the Toodyay Fire and Rescue Brigade.
Fires are more likely to occur on farms during harvest given the movement of machinery and vehicles through paddocks with cured crops.
To assist in restricting the outbreak and impacts of fire the Shire of Toodyay stipulates minimum property preparation standards under the provisions of the Bush Fires Act 1954.
