REVIEW OF REPRESENTATION: SUBMISSIONS AND SURVEY

Published on Tuesday, 2 August 2022 at 12:54:49 PM

Council has resolved to undertake a review of its system of representation. The purpose of the review is to assess whether 9 Councillors and a 'no wards' structure is still appropriate for the Shire of Toodyay.

However, the State Government has recently announced its intention to introduce legislation that requires local governments with a population of 5,000 or less to have 5, 6, or 7 elected members.

Submissions are invited from members of the community regarding the options proposed and any alternative options that could be considered. Further information on the review can be found in the Discussion Paper linked below. Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Toodyay, 15 Fiennes Street (PO Box 96), Toodyay WA 6566, by post or by email to records@toodyay.wa.gov.au

Alternatively, the brief survey below also seeks your views on the number of elected members required to effectively govern the Shire of Toodyay and whether a ward system should be reintroduced. Hard copies of the survey are available at the Shire Administration Centre, Toodyay Visitor Centre and Toodyay Library.
