June 12, commemorates the declaration of Philippine independence from Spain in 1898.
Celebrations were held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Northam with Philippino communities coming together from Cunderdin, York, Northam, Toodyay, Dalwallinu and some from Perth to celebrate Philippine Independence Day.
The celebrations followed a service in St Joseph’s and included colourful and joyful national dances. Toodyay was represented by a small group of five ladies (L to R) Susan, Darling, Julie, Isa and Annie. Shire President, Rosemary Madasci, centre.
