Notification – Toodyay Road Traffic Delays (Rock Outcrop Blasting)

Published on Saturday, 7 January 2023 at 10:00:00 AM

The Shire wishes to advise residents and road users that Main Roads will be temporarily stopping traffic in both directions on Toodyay Road – between Clackline-Toodyay Road and Toodyay-Northam Road, in the area indicted on site – from Monday January 9.

As part of the Toodyay Road Upgrade project, a series of controlled blasts to fracture a small rock outcrop north of the existing road is required. For safety and efficiency reasons, traffic will be stopped in both directions for up to 15 minutes, once per day from Monday to Thursday, at an optimal time between 12.00pm and 3.00pm.

A temporary exclusion zone will be created prior to blasting activities occurring. Traffic management will be in place to prevent vehicles from entering the exclusion zone until it is safe to do so. Please observe all traffic management measures on site.

The end date of these delays will be determined following initial blasts. Main Roads recommends finding alternate routes to avoid delays.

Thank you for your cooperation while these works take place. If you have any questions regarding the blasting activities or the Toodyay Road Upgrade, please contact Main Roads on 138 138 or email enquiries@mainroads.wa.gov.au.
