Transfer of ownership by Deed of Gift

“Syred’s Cottage”, Lot 203, Central Place, Bejoording.

Comprising 1859 dwelling, smokehouse, blacksmith’s shed, stables within heritage curtilage plus adjacent vacant land.  Total land area: 1.0042 hectares.

To a direct descendant of William Edward & Frances Syred, the original owners of the property from 1859.

Although the Shire of Toodyay has contributed towards the management of this historic site since the 1970s, it did not assume ownership of the property until 2014.   Due to the Shire also caring for six other State Heritage Listed buildings, a decision was made to sell the property in 2018.

As no monetary offers have been received it has been decided to invite expressions of interest from a direct descendant of William & Frances Syred for transfer of ownership to them by deed of gift.

The property does not have services connected and there are stipulations and restrictions in place with regards to preserving the heritage values of this place.

The main objective of this EOI is to obtain the best outcome for preserving this historic property for the future.  Interested parties are invited to make a submission in writing to the Shire of Toodyay, 15 Fiennes Street, PO Box 96, Toodyay, WA 6566, email: records@toodyay.wa.gov.au
