WALGA will once again be hosting an Election Candidate Information Briefing webinar, to inform prospective candidates about the roles and responsibilities of Local Government, Councillors and the Council. This will be held on Wednesday, 18 August 2021 commencing at 5.00pm.

The webinar will cover the following range of topics, with the aim of preparing successful election candidates for life as an Elected Member:

  • Purpose of Local Government
  • Role of the Council and Council Members
  • Playing Your Role on Council
  • Declarations of Interest
  • New Code of Conduct Behaviour Provisions Relating to Candidates
  • Induction and Council Member Essentials Training

In keeping with our webinar tradition, there will be opportunity for participants to engage by asking questions that we will endeavour to answer during the session. Please find the registration link for the Candidate Information webinar here. Local Governments are encouraged to consider inviting interested community members to a viewing of the webinar at their premises.

We will also be recording the webinar for those unable to attend the live broadcast and this will be made available on the WALGA website shortly afterwards, together with responses to the questions raised by participants during the webinar.
