Toodyay recently achieved the status of a recognised Wildflower Friendly Town. Although in its infancy, the scheme is designed to increase nature based tourism in Western Australia by encouraging local governments to protect our valuable wildflowers and native vegetation along roads and in nature reserves for the enjoyment of visitors and locals.
On 17 January 1871 the Road Districts Act was gazetted. This divided the State into Districts. On 29 January of the same year, the Toodyay Road District boundaries were described and on 15 February the first election for membership of the Toodyay Road Board was held.

Cr Paula Greenway tendered her resignation to the CEO recently and will be stepping down as a Councillor as of 30 April 2021. Cr Greenway has dedicated the past 7 years to the Shire of Toodyay as a Councillor and feels that it is now time for her focus to be redirected to her business and family.
