The Shire of Toodyay recognises outstanding civic service rendered by members of the community by conferring the title of Honorary Freeman of the Municipality.
The title is intended to recognise outstanding community service over a significant period of time in a wide range of activities within the Shire of Toodyay.
The Local Government Act 1995 defines no criteria for conferring Freemanship on a person, nor is the title itself mentioned in the Act. Council may award this form of distinction and should only do so where the achievement or contribution of that person has been of a lasting or enduring nature for the benefit of the Shire.
The first Honorary Freeman of the Shire of Toodyay was awarded to Joseph (Mac) Wroth OM on 26 January 2007.
