Council Committees

The Shire of Toodyay appoints Committees of Council that are required to address specific issues on behalf of the Council. These are advisory committees, most of which are not open to the public, with the exception of the Recreation Advisory Committee. All committees have Councillor representation and report on their activities and recommendations at Ordinary Council meetings.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee meet quarterly on the third Thursday of each January, April, July and October.

The purpose of the Audit Committee is to:
(a)   is to provide guidance and assistance to the local government to:
       (i)   carry out of its functions in relation to audits carried out under Part 7 of the Local Government Act
       (ii)   reccomend to council an appointment of its auditor; and
       (iii)   advise the Council on matters contained in  Part 7 of the Local Government Act

This Committee is established under Section 7.1A of the Local Government Act 1995.

This Committee does not have any delegated authority.

Local Emergency Management Committee

 The Local Emergency Management Committee meetings are convened as and when required. The purpose of the Local Emergency Management Committee is to:-

(a) advise and assist the Council in ensuring Local Emergency Management Arrangements are in place; and
(b) To liaise with others in the development and review of local emergency management arrangements; and
(c) To carry out other emergency management activities as directed by the State Emergency Management Committee or as prescribed.

This Committee is established under Section 38 of the Emergency Management Act 2005.

This Committee does not have any delegated authority.

 Local Recovery Committee

The Local Recovery Committee meetings are convened as and when required.

The purpose of the Local Recovery Committee is to assist the Council in the recovery process following a local emergency.

Bush Fire Advisory Committee

 

Bush Fire Advisory Committee Meetings are held last Tuesday in each March and September.

The purpose of this committee is to provide advice to the Council on matters pertaining to obligations within the Bush Fires Act and the organising, managing, resourcing and training of volunteer bush fire brigades.

This Committee is established under Section 57 of the Bush Fire Act 1954.

This Committee does not have any delegated authority.

Museum Advisory Committee

The Museum Advisory Committee meets quarterly on the 3rd Thursday of each February, May, August and November. 

The purpose of the Museum Advisory Committee is to provide guidance and assistance to the Council on matters affecting the selection, interpretation or display of the museums artefacts; and matters relating to the promotion of the Museum.

This Committee is established under Section 5.8 of the Local Government Act 1995.

This Committee does not have any delegated authority.

Works Advisory Committee

The Works Advisory Committee meets quarterly on the 3rd Thursday of each March, June, September and December. 

The purpose of the Works Advisory Committee is " to provide guidance and assistance to the Local Government on matters relating to maintaining and developing transport and other infrastructure assets of the Shire in ways that are socially, financially and environmentally responsible.”

This Committee is established under Section 5.8 of the Local Government Act 1995.

Recreation Advisory Committee

The Recreation Advisory Committee meet as and when required.

The purpose of the Recreation Advisory Committee is to advise the Council on matters involving the establishment and construction of recreation facilities.
