Council Committees

The Shire of Toodyay establishes Committees of Council which may include members of the community to develop various plans and policies and to address specific issues on behalf of the Council. The membership of all Council Committees includes Elected Member representation. All committees report on their activities and make recommendations that are then brought to Council for consideration at Ordinary Meetings of Council.

Current Committees open to the public are as follows:

Where Council Committee Meetings are open to the public a public question time, as well as public submissions/deputations will be form part of the agenda for that meeting. Committee Meeting Schedule

Council Committee meetings are held in Council Chambers, Shire of Toodyay Administration Centre, 15 Fiennes Street, Toodyay.

Commencement time of these committee meetings will vary however access to the building will be at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

Bush Fire Advisory Committee

The Bush Fire Advisory Committee meet on the first Tuesday of each of the months of February, May, August and November unless otherwise determined by the Committee.

The Museum Advisory Committee meets on the third Thursday of the months of February, May, August and November unless otherwise determined by the Committee.

The Works Advisory Committee meets on the third Thursday of the months of January, April, July and October, unless otherwise determined by the Committee.

Community Depot Advisory Committee

The Community Depot Management Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting for 2017 on 2 February 2017 (due to Australia Day falling on the fourth Thursday of January 2017) and thereafter meetings to be held on the fourth Thursday of the months of April, July and October  unless otherwise determined by the Committee.

Local Laws Advisory Committee

At a Special Meeting of Council held on 20 Oct 2015, Council resolved to not appoint a Local Laws Advisory Committee.  This Council Committee would not open to the public.

The Environmental Advisory Committee will meet on the fourth Thursday of the months of February, May, August and November unless otherwise determined by the Committee.      This Council Committee is not open to the public.

Local Emergency Management Committee The purpose of the Local Emergency Management Committee is to:-
  1. advise and assist the Council in ensuring Local Emergency Management Arrangements are in place; and
  2. To liaise with others in the development and review of local emergency management arrangements; and
  3. To carry out other emergency management activities as directed by the State Emergency Management Committee or as prescribed.
This Committee is established under Section 38 of the Emergency Management Act 2005.

Local Recovery Committee The Local Recovery Committee meetings are convened as and when required.

The purpose of the Local Recovery Committee is to assist the Council in the Recovery process following a local emergency.

Bush Fire Advisory Committee The purpose of this committee is to provide advice to the Council on matters pertaining to obligations within the Bush Fires Act and the organising, managing, resourcing and training of volunteer bush fire brigades.

Museum Advisory Committee The purpose of the Museum Advisory Committee is to provide guidance and assistance to the Council on matters affecting the selection, interpretation or display of the museums artefacts; matters relating to the promotion of the Museum and matters of interest or concern regarding the museum.

Environmental Advisory Committee

The Committee was established by Council (Resolution No 141/06/14) to be as follows:

The Environmental Advisory Committee will have the following terms of Reference:

  • Provide advice to Council on the implementation of the Environmental Strategy;
  • Develop relevant documents including policies, strategies, leaflets, pamphlets or booklets consistent with the environment strategy for consideration by Council; and
  • Provide advice on relevant matters referred to it by Council.

The Environmental Advisory Committee will consist of the following members:

  • Up to 5 elected members nominated by the Council;
  • Up to 4 members of the public identified through advertising for expressions of interest from community members with relevant qualifications, skills or experience; and 
  • Two Shire Staff as nominated by the CEO.
